Definition: In surfing, a series refers to a group of waves arriving consecutively. Series are often separated by lulls, which can be longer or shorter depending on the spacing of the series. The further away the swell is from the globe, the longer the waiting time.

Surfers wait for the series and must choose the best wave to ride or simply the one they can catch, depending on their position on the beach. line-up.

It often happens that the first wave of the series isn't the biggest and best, so it's advisable to take the second or one of the following waves.

But don't be greedy: in some series, there are only 1 or 2 waves, as there can also be dozens, or even uninterrupted series.

In certain circumstances, there may be so-called "cross swells" coming from different directions. This creates a series of waves of different shapes and slightly different angles.
